PI Introduces Highly Integrated LED Driver IC for Low Power LED Bulbs

Power Integrations, Inc. (Nasdaq: POWI) launched the LYTSwitchTM-0 IC - LYTSwitch family of new device families on June 18, which combines simplicity, reliability and efficiency with a unique Advantage. The LYTSwitch-0 IC is ideal for cost-sensitive, non-isolated, non-dimmable GU10 bulbs and other space-constrained bulb applications.

With over 90% efficiency, the LYTSwitch-0 device provides constant current output with better than +/-5% adjustment accuracy in typical applications. Its power factor is greater than 0.8 at 115 VAC and 0.55 at 230 VAC to meet the ENERGY STARTM V1 3rd draft of the North American Consumer Lighting Standard and the European Ecodesign Directive Lot 19 Part 2.

Andrew Smith, Product Marketing Manager of Power Integrations, said: "The RDR-355 introduces a GU10 LED driver designed with LYTSwitch-0 IC and only 13 components. Because of its small size and high efficiency, it is not necessary. Use heat dissipation or potting for the LED driver to reduce manufacturing costs."


The main applications include low cost LED bulbs such as GU10 and candle lights. The RDR-355 introduces a 6 W non-dimmable LED driver. Samples of the LYTSwitch-0 IC in SO-8 and DIP packages are available now, priced at $0.29 each based on 10,000-piece quantities.
